England’s Chief Medical Officer Chris Whitty has urged people to continue to self-isolate if they test positive for the coronavirus in the coming weeks.
People who test positive will no longer be legally required to self-isolate from Thursday, but will still be told to stay at home.
Post April 1, people with Covid symptoms will be urged to “exercise personal responsibility” in their decisions about how they interact with other people.
Prof Whitty said that self-isolation was “standard public health advice” for any significant and highly communicable infection.
