Boris Johnson said he doubted the figure of just 50 Ukrainians given visas to enter the UK was accurate, adding that “thousands” of applications were being processed.
He said Britain has “always been very generous” to zoned war refugees and no European country has done more to resettle vulnerable people since 2015.
But the Prime Minister said it was “not the right approach” for the UK to allow people to enter the UK without checks or controls.
