President Biden has signed a $ 1.5 trillion spending bill funded by the government through September and includes $ 13.6 billion in aid to Ukraine.
The president signed the bill on Friday, after the Senate passed it Thursday night by a margin of 68-31. Financial assistance to Ukraine, which includes billions of dollars in humanitarian assistance, garnered bipartisan support.
The signing of the bill by the president on Friday prevents a partial shutdown of the government that would otherwise have occurred on Friday at midnight.
Mr Biden is in Camp David this weekend, overseeing the war in Ukraine.
On Friday morning, the president announced that the G7 nations and the United States are revoke Russia’s favored nation status, allowing them to impose tariffs and hinder Russia’s trade with much of the world economy. The US is also blocking Russian imports of seafood, diamonds and vodka. The US has done the same banned imports of Russian gas and oil.

The bill includes $ 730 billion in non-defense spending, up 6.7 percent from fiscal year 2021, which Democratic Sen. Patrick Leahy, head of the Senate Appropriation Committee, said is “the biggest increase in four years.” It also provides $ 782 billion in defense spending, 5.6% more than last year.
