The UK announced 370 more sanctions, including Russia’s former president, in its latest response to the war in Ukraine.
Dmitry Medvedev and President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman are among those hit by asset freezes and travel bans.
Earlier, the UK imposed trade restrictions on Russia, including an additional 35% tariff on vodka.
The move comes after new legislation was passed to speed up and tighten UK sanctions.
The government rushed the white-collar crime bill through parliament after criticizing the UK for being too slow to target Russians with ties to President Putin.
The legislation allows the UK to sanction those whose assets have been frozen by the EU, US or Canada and take action to prevent wealthy Russians from using London to launder money.
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu were among President Putin’s other high-profile allies sanctioned by Britain.
Others include Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov and Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, who called the British government “Russian propagandists”.
Foreign Secretary Liz Truss said Britain is “going further and faster than ever to meet those closest to Putin”.
“We hold them accountable for their complicity in Russia’s crimes in Ukraine,” she said. “Working closely with our allies, we will continue to increase pressure on Putin and cut funding for the Russian war machine.”
