Kanye West suspended from Instagram for 24 hours after directing racial slur at Trevor Noah

(CNN)Kanye West has been suspended from Instagram after posting a racial slur against Daily Show host Trevor Noah, a spokesman for Meta confirmed to CNN.

According to Meta, West violated the platform’s policies on hate speech, bullying and harassment. He is not allowed to post, comment and take other actions for 24 hours, and the company will take further action if necessary, the spokesman said.

West on Wednesday released an insult aimed at Noah after the talk show host addressed the rapper’s treatment of his former wife Kim Kardashian and her boyfriend, comedian Pete Davidson, during a segment on Tuesday’s The Daily Show.

“You might not feel sorry for Kim because she’s rich and famous,” Noah said in the segment. “But what she’s going through is terrifying to watch and highlights what so many women are going through when they decide to leave.”

In West’s post, which has since been deleted from Instagram, he replaced the “Kumbaya” caption with a racist epithet. Prior to the post’s removal, Noah had responded by expressing his admiration for West as an artist and his genuine concern for him and his family.
