Lego’s new Back to the Future set finally makes DeLorean right

Lego has a new debut Back to the future DeLorean Set, creates the time travel car from the movie series with its latest brick model to date – one that, unlike the original 2013 version, actually looks like the iconic vehicle.

The $ 169 set has 1,856 pieces (compared to the 401 pieces in the original model) and is significantly larger and more detailed in virtually every way. There are functional gold-wing doors, a far less blocked hood, a brand new windshield piece that Lego has created specifically for the new set to fit the right car, and a light flux capacitor (especially notable for the rarity of lights) pieces on the modern Lego Sets).

The DeLorean set can be installed Back to the future, Back to the Future Part IIan an Back to the Future Part III Versions.

The new DeLorean set can be built in three different configurations: the “original” version of the time machine of the first Back to the future Film (complete with a lightning rod to create the finale of the film); a hovering version featuring a Mr. Fusion reactor from the futuristic 2015 timeline in the second film; in the Steampunk 1885 version of the third film.

Of course, the set contains only enough pieces to build one DeLorean model at a time, of course, so if you want to put all three variations on display, you’ll need to buy (or take apart) a few copies and rebuild your set several times).

There are also some fun accessories: a hoverboard and box with stolen plutonium, interchangeable license plates for the different times of the car, and a banana to throw into Mr. Fusion (as in the movie). And while the car is much larger than the minifigure scale, the set also includes Marty McFly and Doc Brown minifigures.

The original Lego DeLorean set was released in 2013 for a much more affordable price of $ 34.99. The set also holds a special place in Lego history: it was one of the first fan-designed projects of the Lego Ideas (then called Lego Cuusoo) produced by the company.

The new Lego Back to the future DeLorean Set will be available from April 1st from the Lego website and other retailers.
