Stuart Baggs auditions for The Apprentice in 2010

Lord Alan Sugar paid tribute to late Apprentice star Stuart Baggs ahead of tonight’s semifinals.

The 27-year-old, considered one of the most memorable and funny candidates on the show, died tragically seven years ago.

He was found dead by police in his Isle of Man apartment in 2015. Police later revealed that Stuart suffered a fatal asthma attack.

Stuart has gained fame on the 2010 series in his special collection of one-liners, not to mention ‘Everything I Touch is Sold’ and “I’m the Stuart Baggs, the brand”, are further quoted by committed fans.

At the age of 21, Stuart was the youngest candidate to ever appear on the show, and made it to the semi-finals of the series, which was eventually won by investment banker Stella English.

Ahead of tonight’s episode, Lord Sugar tweeted a clip of himself talking about Stuart over the candidate’s clips on the show.

He tweeted: “As for the interviews tonight @bbcapprentice, we have to give the last word to the late great Stuart Baggs … #TheApprentice 9pm @BBCOne.”

Lord Sugar says in the clip: “Stuart was one of our memorable characters and sadly he died. But he will never be forgotten.

“What a super Character.”

A montage of Stuart’s best moments is shown, including his iconic and witty interview with Claude Littner.

When Claude tells him to take a seat, Stuart swims over and offers his hand, which Claude refuses and instead repeats to get him a seat.

“‘In Stuart Baggs The Brand’,” Claude reads from his CV. “What on earth are you talking about? You’re a 21-year-old kid. You’re not a brand.”

“But I mean, if you look at what a brand means, it is–” Stuart begins, but is interrupted by a sharp Claude.

“No, do not tell me what a brand means, OK,” says Claude firmly. “You are not a brand. You are not a brand.”

But Stuart rudely repeats, “I think I could be.”

Fans were quick to comment, with a tweet: “Everything he touched sold out! Great character, taken far too quickly.”

While another commented: “Nice touch. He’s one of the contestants who made the show.”

A third wrote: “So very sad, he was what the teacher was all about.”
