Atlanta Falcons plan a visit with 5-time Pro Bowl wide receiver by Grayson Freestone
3 key players the Atlanta Falcons lost to free agency by Nick Halden
Former Atlanta Falcons receiver Julio Jones was a surprise catch this afternoon as the Titans and Jones split up the possibility of opening a reunion. Julio Jones and the Atlanta Falcons split last year as Jones was tired of losing and may have had frustration with the former Atlanta Front Office.
Could Atlanta repair feathers and bring back their star? Julio may not be the player he once was, but he would certainly be a fortune and a necessary addition to a team desperate to find help at the receiving end.
The cut comes just one season after Julio joined the Titans in an injured season that saw AJ Brown solidify as the Titans’ number 1 option. Julio was an unnecessary commodity and became a cap victim.
The Atlanta Falcons bringing Julio Jones back would be a perfect move for a franchise that needs production that Julio can still bring
If Atlanta were able to bring Julio back, they would not get the elite player that Julio has been for almost a decade. Instead, they get a veteran receiver who can still make an impact and requires a lot of defensive attention in the right scheme.
Jones only worked 434 receiving yards his first year with the Titans, he struggled to stay healthy and simply was not the same player. However, there is no reason to think as number two receiver Jones can still be a productive part of an insult.
Bringing him back to Atlanta would not fix the problems at the receiver but it is a step in the right direction. Atlanta could expect Julio to return and replicate his last season with the Falcons. Julio finished with 771 receiving yards and shot three times for Atlanta during the 2020 season.
The best case scenario for Atlanta would be to sign Julio, sign a receiver, and sign Jarvis Landry, who plans to visit Atlanta as my colleague breaks up here. Julio back in an Atlanta Falcons jersey feels like the perfect move, no matter who is under center this season for Atlanta and would bring some needed production.
