Elden Ring Update 1.03: All Hidden Change Not included in the patch notes

One thing that the patch notes do not mention though is that the Smithing Stones you bought from Twin Maiden Husks in Roundtable Hold are now much cheaper. I could not confirm the exact price difference for each item yet, but most of the ones I have tested so far seem to be about 4X cheaper than they were before. So, if you have not already gone out of your way to find these Bell Bearings that will allow you to purchase Smithing Stones from Twin Maiden Husks, now is the time to do so.

Elden Ring Update 1.03 Hidden Changes: Exiled Knight Engvall’s Spirit Ashes can now be found in Murkwater Catacombs

For reasons I can not fully explain, it seems that you are able to get the Banished Knight Engavall’s Spirit Ashes by beating the boss and the Murkwater Catacombs. Anyone who has ever beaten that boss will find that the ashes have been added to the inventory.

As for the Battle Hammer you got earlier to beat that boss … well, it’s not clear what happened to that. I’ve heard some players report that they could get it from random mobs, but I still have not found a consistent place for it. If you find a consistent drop spot for the Battle Hammer, be sure to let us know.

Elden Ring Update 1.03 Hidden Changes: Many heavy and power-based weapons are now “weaker” thanks to a bug fix

Before this last update, a few Elden Ring Players noticed that some of their fully-upgraded weapons were actually weaker than they were at the previous upgrade level. Many suspect that this was the result of a bug, and it turns out that this is true.

However, it seems that the bug did not affect the total damage to the fully upgraded weapons, but rather led to the previous upgrade levels being stronger than anticipated. As such, it seems that the total attack power for some updated weapons has been reduced everywhere. I have not seen a full list of weapons affected by this change, but it seems that most weapons with the “Heavy” affinity (and some others that are mainly with strength scale) were affected by this change.

Simply put, this is a big nerve for most Strength Builds and other builds that rely on Heavy Affinity weapons. While it seems like most of those weapons were never thought to be as powerful as they were, I hope FromSoftware finds a way to make Strength Builds feel more viable than they currently are.
