Everything you need to know about the football disruptive group

“I’m not sure we’ll get back on the streets as Insulate Britain. Anyway, there will be something new on the cards,” he said after his release from prison.

And, as it happens, there is something new – Just Stop Oil. McKechnie himself is the activist who managed to stop Everton against Newcastle match briefly.

Tonight, Louis, a 21-year-old supporter of Just Stop Oil, was locked up at the goal post in Goodison Park wearing a Just Stop Oil T-shirt, causing the referee to stop playing briefly.

The organization describes itself as a “coalition of groups working together to demand that the government immediately stop all future licenses and approvals for the exploration, development and production of fossil fuels in the UK.”

It focuses explicitly on the young people who act.

The group is also associated with the Extinction Rebellion – with veteran activist Roger Hallam cited as the mastermind behind all three.

What does Just Stop Oil want?

The clue is in the name. The group’s mission statement reads: “We urgently need to stop our dependence on fossil fuels to prevent irreversible changes in the Earth’s climate system. We can no longer burn fossil fuels in the belief that future developments in carbon capture and storage and other so-called” Unicorn technologies “allow us to suck huge amounts of carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere.

Held.

Children in Ukraine are killed by a fossil fascist and Everton’s opponents are in possession of an oil dictatorship that bombed Yemenis and murdered journalists.

If only a tenth of the Everton fans who abused him had his moral courage, then there could be hope for us. https://t.co/F7DBtUBL1x

It wants Britain to start this immediately by stopping new fossil fuel projects – giving the country eight years to transform itself into a zero-carbon economy.

The group continues: “Everyone knows we need to commit to massive change. Just Stop Oil is a coalition of groups that demand that no-brainer things be done immediately – actions that dramatically reduce the demand for fossil fuels, so how to insulate our homes, rethink how we travel, move forward with renewable energy and make sure no one is left behind. “

What have been their protests so far?

McKechnie was not the first Just Stop Oil activist to disrupt a football game.

Earlier this week, another activist blocked a goal while Arsenal played against Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium.

The group also stormed BAFTA, with 30 of its supporters managed to get on the red carpet to sit out a protest.

In line with the group’s focus on youth, students from London and Liverpool went on strike outside their schools for a few minutes.
