Jaziri, Coleman to compete at World Indoor Track and Field Championships

RICHMOND, Ky. A current Colonel and former Colonel will compete this weekend in Belgrade, Serbia, against the best from around the world at the Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Senior All-American Ahmed Jaziri will represent Tunisia, while EKU alum Jamaine Coleman (2014-18) will represent Great Britain in the men’s 3,000 meters on Friday. The 3,000-meter heats will start at 8:25 AM ET.

Jaziri – born in Rades, Tunisia – is a two-time All-American EKU record holder in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (8: 32.9) and the indoor 3,000-meter (7: 47.34), which is the qualifying time. him for the World Cup.

Coleman – born in Preston, England – was a two-time All-American at EKU and finished second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Championships. He qualified by finishing second at the British Championships in February. Coleman had a personal best time of 7: 44.65.

EKU also had two former student-athletes, Ole Hesselbjerg (3,000-meter steeplechase) and Thijs Nijhuis (marathon), who competed at the Olympic Games in Tokyo last summer.
