Paul Merson praises Leeds United for ‘unbelievable’ result against Wolves

Will continue their challenge for a European place when relegation-threatened Leeds United Molineux visit on Friday night.

After a run of three straight defeats, Bruno Lage’s side pulled back superbly with back-to-back victories over Watford and Everton, two other sides battling at the wrong end of the table.

Leeds brought new life and their survival hopes with a dramatic victory over Norwich City last weekend as new head coach Jesse Marsch secured his first victory since taking control. The league table – with the sides separated by 20 points and eight places – would point to a home win, but former Aston Villa and Arsenal winger Paul Merson believes Leeds will be the team to celebrate on Friday night.

“Woah, what a game. Wolves got a good result against Everton last time out, but Leeds’ dramatic last-minute win against Norwich City was also the whole story,” Merson said in his weekly round of predictions for Sportskeeda.

“I think they would really like to see what was a much-needed victory and build up three points on Molineux. It’s a massive pitch and Leeds have a lot of pace in their squad – that’s something that could hurt Wolves. They are good footballers, but Joao Moutinho and Ruben Neves are not the fastest players, so they could really be injured by Leeds.

“Jesse Marsch has been monitoring two losses and one win since the takeover, so the jury is still out to see if it was the right decision to fire Marcelo Bielsa. That said, if Leeds can get a result here, it would be unlikely. .
