CHATTANOOGA — The Chattanooga Mocs Soccer Team is ready for its own March Madness. The Mocs will begin spring practice on Monday, March 21st. It is an opportunity for the cadre to build on the 2022 campaign.
It’s the first “regular” spring for the Mocs in coaching Rusty Wrighthis term of office. The squad was nomadic through 2019 preparations while Scrappy Moore Field was being renovated following flood damage. Last spring there was a season rather than practice time due to the COVID change of the Southern Conference regular season.
It’s the first time in a long time that we actually have one. We have some guys we need to see do some things. We think we have some guys who can help us and are games for us, but the biggest thing is to put them through their paces and understand where we are moving into the summer.
The Mocs are returning 15 starters, including all three special team pitches. That includes six who have earned All-Southern Conference honors and an All-America. What they do not return from the front line is filled with a lot of experience in the reserve.
