In 2001, Liverpool managed to win three trophies – the FA Cup, League Cup and UEFA Cup – to win what Manchester United fans mocked as “Mickey Mouse Treble”.
Well, they would not be spotted if Jurgen Klopp’s team achieved the unfortunate result this season. The addition of Luis Diaz has given the Reds a different outfit – and competing on four fronts, this side could be the first to win every major trophy they have available after securing the League Cup.
Is it happening? Or just a pipe dream? Let’s analyze the last 17 matches of the season …
FA Cup
Schedule: Nottingham Forest, semi-finals, finals
The FA Cup has eluded Liverpool since Steven Gerrard’s miracle strike sent the 2006 edition into overtime. They had a lot of bad luck over that time and were beaten by some underdogs.
For some Reds, a win under the bow would be a massive deal: but it will not be easy. Strong teams made it to the semi-finals and in two unique relationships at Wembley, anything can happen.
Champions League
Equipment: Benfica (two legs), Semi-finals (two legs), finals
Liverpool could be five games away from glory in the Champions League – and the next round is against beatable opponents.
Benfica is next ahead of either Bayern Munich or Villarreal. The Reds beat Bayern last time they won the trophy, which is good – and with big wins over Manchester City and Chelsea in Europe and in big finals in recent years, history favors Klopp his side. Anfield must rock for the next two knockout rounds – and of course, luck must also play a role.

Premier League
Schedule: Watford, Manchester City, Aston Villa, Manchester United, Everton, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Southampton, Wolverhampton Wanderers
Liverpool still have a tough run to finish the season, playing rivals and big sides – and there are banana skins too. Manchester City are still top of the table, which makes the Etihad match between the champions and the Challenger particularly enjoyable.
But Liverpool are in rich form, having won nine in a row in the league and only lost twice all season. The moment is certainly with the Reds and with the depth and attack these days they can afford to rotate.
