The first day of spring brings warm weather
KTVU’s Rosemary Orozco says a significant rise in temperatures is expected this week in the Bay Area.
SAN FRANCISCO – Spring is officially here.
The Vernal Equinox arrived on Sunday at 8:33 Pacific time, marking the end of winter and the first day of astronomical spring in the Northern Hemisphere. It is a reminder that we are driving on warmer and brighter days.
LOOK AND: Part of California in the ‘extreme drought’ disperse almost over week
Equinoxes occur twice a year: once in March and once in September. The Earth’s axis causes the seasons, according to NASA.
Throughout the year, different parts of the earth receive the direct rays of the sun. So, when the North Pole tilts to the sun, it’s summer in the northern hemisphere. And when the South Pole tilts to the sun, it’s winter in the northern hemisphere.
Saturday’s rain was not as strong as expected, and now the Bay Area will be hoping for any signs of humidity as spring begins.
