NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Outguns Apple M1 Ultra An Benchmarks

When Apple announced its M1 Ultra processor, it made a bold claim that the discrete GPU in the processor was just as capable, if not better, than NVIDIA’s currently highest tier GPU, that’s the GeForce RTX 3090. Well, that claim was before. recently debunked by The Verge, though it’s not so hard to imagine why.

Seeing as the Lifestyle Tech site bought one from Mac Studio with the M1 Ultra Silicon, its writers did the only thing to debunk the claim: testing the processor GPU against an RTX 3090 and some testing. And test it, they have.

Some of you may remember the chart that Apple showed during the presentation of the M1 Ultra, and if you take it as it is, one of the many messages the fruit company tried to send was that new chip would have better performance – pro. -watt. Even if that’s not technically wrong, unlike the RTX 3090 though, what it does not show is just how much more power the dedicated GPU of Green Camp has.

Two benchmarks used by The Verge, one is the synthetic benchmark Geekbench 5 Compute and the other from the game Shadow of the Tomb Raider, shows the RTX 3090 with its higher 350W TDP, the M1 Ultra leaving its GPU cores in the dust.

It’s easy to both explain and understand why Apple’s M1 Ultra would find it extremely difficult to get a dedicated graphics card out, and the most powerful consumer-ready. That being said, it can also be argued that the comparison between the two is really more of an apple (no pun intended) with orange comparison, especially since the NVIDIA component is a dedicated piece of equipment, while the M1 Ultra is a capable all-rounder. .
