In a segment on “The Kelly Clarkson Show”, Anne Hathaway identified one of Clarkson’s songs, “Since U Been Gone”, before Clarkson herself.
Hathaway appeared on Tuesday’s episode of the show, competing against Clarkson in a segment titled “Sing That Name That Tune”. The two went head to head, trying to identify a song and climb onto a platform to sing it in front of the other, based on a brief introduction by the Clarkson show band.
In a part of the contest, which was uploaded to YouTube on Tuesday, Clarkson asked the band to “play a freaking song” [she’ll] know “after losing three rounds against Hathaway.
In response, the band played the opening note of Clarkson’s 2004 hit single “Since U Been Gone”. Hathaway, however, hit her on the punch, went up on the panel and immediately threw out the chorus of the song.
When they realized she had lost track of her own song, Clarkson collapsed onto the platform, briefly lying there as Hathaway sang.
“How! How did you just know that?” Clarkson asked Hathaway after the song was completed.
“Kelly Clarkson, if you do not understand how much we love all that song,” Hathaway said. “Everyone here knew it at first. Everyone here knew it.”
“Should I just give up?” Clarkson said. “This is embarrassing.”
Hathaway is currently starring in “WeCrashed”, a series that dramatizes the rise and fall of WeWork and it is co-founder Adam Neumann. Clarkson, in addition to her own show, is also one of the hosts of the NBC “Eurovision” adaptation “American Song Contest”.
In another segment on the show, Hathaway shared her way of eating cupcakes, Clarkson shows how to tear from the bottom of the cake and place it over the frosting to create a sandwich.
