Regina King belongs to the list of A-listers who will serve as hosts for the 2022 Met Gala.
On Thursday, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City announced the celebrity co-chairs for the biggest night of fashion and King was among the big names to make the list, ET reported.
The Academy Award-winning actress will be alongside the co-president Blake Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, and actor, composer and director Lin-Manuel Miranda.
The gala will feature a number of famous American designers, among them Stephen Burrows and the latter Ann Lowe and Fannie Criss Payne. Filmmakers will also have celebrated their work in a series of “cinematic vignettes” that showcase fashion in American film.
King will include some of her work in the presentation, while also co-chairing the star-studded event. She has participated in the Met Gala 2019 and 2021 and has designed clothes by Oscar de la Renta and Michael Kors.
It will be King’s return to light after the tragic loss of her son Ian Alexander Jr. in January.
The costume institute’s annual spring gala takes place on May 2nd. It is the first time that the Met Gala has taken place on its usual date since the pandemic canceled the 2020 event.
Last September, the Met Gala hosted Part One of the In America exhibition. Now for its return on the first Monday in May, the Met Gala will hold the second part, In America: An Anthology of Fashion.
“In America: An Anthology of Fashion” will open on May 7 at the museum, following “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,” which premiered at the September 2021 Met Gala.
Designer Tom Ford, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri, and Condé Nast’s artistic director and Vogue’s Global Editorial Director Anna Wintour will also be co-chairing the 2022 Gala after co-chairing last year’s event.
The show, which runs through September 5, “will explore the foundations of American fashion through a series of sartorial displays,” including 100 pieces of American fashion, ranging from 19th to mid-late 20th century. .
