Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will stage its fourth (and hopefully last) fight between current Flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo and former 125-pound title holder Brandon Moreno when they collide on one of the promotion’s upcoming fights in July, according to the veteran MMA Reporter Ariel Helwani.
As of this writing, this is the only confirmed event for July UFC 276 on July 2nd.
Figueiredo and Moreno first went to war in UFC 256 in late 2020, a five-round battle that drew in the majority. Unsurprisingly, the promotion stamped a direct rematch for UFC 263, which Moreno won by broadcasting the third round.
That led to a third reunion between the pair and Figueiredo reclaimed his 125-pound title with a 25-minute decision at UFC 270. Fortunately for Moreno, the division’s top candidate – Russian “Bullet” Askar Askarov – already booked to compete in the UFC Columbus.
Nothing is official at this time but it would make sense for Figueiredo and Moreno to complete their rivalry to keep the 125-pound assembly line in the right direction, starting with the winner of Figueiredo-Moreno against the winner of Askarov-Kara France later this year.
