A beloved grizzly bear in a BC ski resort stuck his head through the snow and came out of hibernation for his 20th spring.
Boo’s 2022 debut was captured by surveillance cameras at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort’s 20-acre bear refugee camp.
The refuge, just outside of Golden, BC and within the confines of the ski resort, gives guests at the Interpretation Center an opportunity to spot Boo and his natural mountain habitat in the summer.
The ski resort’s gondola crosses over the mountain refuge and officials ask skiers and snowboarders to avoid making noise while at the top or while skiing on the slopes. The Kicking Horse ski season is set to end in mid-April.
Boo has finally joined us for the new year!
We were extremely happy to record Boo’s 20th emergence of his dogs!
We ask that all guests remain calm as you walk across the building in the gondola and ski at Bear Refuge on Lower Wiley Coyote. pic.twitter.com/TDSJLN6XHz
