MAX CLEWORTH were not beaten with a draw after Wrexham’s win came to an end, but the central defender wants to reward another bumper crowd with three points at the top of the table showdown today against Halifax Town.
Phil Parkinson’s side made the trip to Bromley on Saturday on the back of seven consecutive wins, but had to settle for part of the penalty after a goalless draw.
Wrexham remain fourth in the National League and Cleworth want to start a run of seven home games in a row with a win against Halifax, who are third.
“We saw every team as a chance to get three points and at The Racecourse, the fans were incredible this year,” said Cleworth.
“Getting at least 8,000 per game is incredible for this level, so hopefully with seven home games in a row, they will be there every game to support us and hopefully with their support we can collect more points and get through to the next round come. the FA Trophy.
“Continue to build momentum. We are unbeaten in eight games, but we do not want to be allowed in and get ahead of ourselves.
“There’s another game on Tuesday and we’re looking to get three points as we do every game.
“It will be nice to win back home after the draw, and give the fans a performance they can proudly go home to.”
Cleworth was disappointed not to pick up another win at Bromley but the young defender thinks it could be a valuable point in the push for promotion.
“On reflection, that would be a good point,” Cleworth said.
“It probably feels like two points fell because I think we had the better chances. I had one in the first half and then in the second half we had a few shots that went over.
“We wanted to win the game and we wanted to keep running, but Bromley are a good team and they are up there too.
“They have a certain style of football, they have forwards and good players.
“On a difficult pitch, the wind played a role in the first half and we look back and take the point and take the clean sheet.
“Hopefully by the end of the season there was a point won and we look back on it as a positive point.”
But there was an idea to it – the misdirected ball was turned into a cross towards Rob Lainton, who was waiting for it in the box.
While it’s good to lose Lainton, Cleworth feels Christian Dibble is a more than capable replacement.
“That put a big downer on it because Rob was such an important player for us,” Cleworth added.
“It was a great first rescue and then the second, he was very courageous and was beaten on the wrist.
“All the boys are good for him because he’s such a big part of the team, but Dibs will come in; he’s a great second choice goalkeeper and he’s going to play his part too.
