ATP Miami Open Day 1 Forecasts

Mackenzie McDonald vs Dominik Koepfer

Koepfer is a good enough player, but quite far from his impressive US Open run a few years back. McDonald’s, meanwhile, has not yet climbed into the ranks of the elite, but the talent is enormous and the game is slowly coming together.
Forecast: McDonald’s 2

Roberto Carballes Baena vs. David Goffin

There is no end in sight to David Goffin’s decline. He won two games in the Phoenix Challenger last week, but he lost in each of them a set for players outside the top 150. Carballes Baena is well into the top 150, and the Spaniard should have no problems here .
Prognosis: Carballes Baena an 2

Juan Manuel Cerundolo vs. Dusan Lajovic

Both Lajovic and Miomir Kecmanovic (more Kecmanovic) played very well, as they had to pick up Novak Djokovic’s coat when he was deported from the Australian Open. Cerundolo won a title on clay last year, but his game still needs tons of improvement on hard courts. This should be a calm.
Forecast: Lajovic am 2

Brandon Nakashima vs Soonwoo Kwon

This should be a very fun matchup between two up-and-comers in the game. Kwon started his ascent early, but Nakashima is definitely faster. At the moment, the two are currently playing as solid top 60-80 players, which is what they both are now. Kwon might have been ranked higher, but the American is a bit more solid at the moment. This, however, could definitely go away on its own.
Forecast: Nakashima am 3
