Bathurst 6 Hours | Host of Supercars stars confirmed

A record-breaking field has been confirmed for next month’s Bathurst 6 Hour Race, including a host of current and former Supercars stars.

A 70-car entry list has been unveiled for the race, which will be the largest field collected for an endurance event at Mount Panorama.

Defense Supercars champion Shane van Gisbergen writes the field in a BMW he shares with Shane Smollen and Rob Rubis as the trio repeat their 2021 victory.

The grid will consist of cars representing 15 different brands, 34 different models and more than 160 drivers.

The field consists of cars in eight classes, separated by performance levels and vehicle affordability.

The direct category includes BMWs worth more than $ 130,000, while in Class E there are $ 20,000 Suzuki Swifts.

Other well-known names on the entry list include Will Davison, Tim Slade, John Bowe, Marcos Ambrose and David Russell, who finished third in last year’s Bathurst 1000.

It is very much a family theme for the race, with 11 of the 70 entries being connected either partially or entirely by pilots.

Under the field is 1987 Bathurst 1000 champion Peter McLeod, 35 years after tasting victory with Peter Brock and David Parsons.

McLeod will share a Class C HSV Astra with his grandson Benjamin, while his other two grandchildren – Nick and Cameron – drive a Ford Mustang alongside Supercars team owner Tim Blanchard.
