BBC’s This Is Going To Hurt – there will be another series of Adam Kay’s NHS drama

The first series of This Is Going To Hurt comes to an end this evening (March 22). The seventh and final episode is scheduled to air on BBC One at 9.10pm.

Lately, a sad Adam (played by Ben Whishaw) has been living with his parents. Confronted with his tribunal about his abuse, he finds himself torn between telling the truth about what happened or keeping his job.

Elsewhere in the season finale, Adam says an emotional goodbye as Erika’s baby is finally released. In his personal life, he tries to reconnect with Harry by inviting him to Greg’s wedding, but his ex-fiancé finds it hard to forgive his past betrayal.

But is there another series of This Is Going To Hurt and when could viewers expect to see it on BBC? Here’s all you need to know before the Series One finale.

Is there another series of This Is Going To Hurt on BBC?

At the moment there has been no official confirmation whether This Is Going To Hurt will be back for a second series on BBC One. However, actress Ambika Mod, who plays Shruti in the comedy-drama, hinted that it was about another season.

Talk to Radio Times, she said: “I’ve heard people talk about a second series. I do not know if that has been confirmed or something. But I definitely see a potential for it. But no one has told me anything about it.

Based on the NHS Junior Doctor Who writer Adam Kay’s bestselling memoir of the same name, the series debuted on BBC One last month. The series won over viewers and critics alike, with many praising the show for its ability to mix humor with some serious themes.

If you’ve missed one of the series, which also stars Lady Harriet Walter, Alex Jennings, and Rory Fleck Byrne, so far, do not worry, as all seven episodes are now available to stream on BBC iPlayer.

The last episode of This Is Going To Hurt will be broadcast on Tuesday, 22nd March at 9.10pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
