WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The heads of Intel and Micron will make the case on Wednesday to strengthen U.S. government subsidies for semiconductor manufacturing before the U.S. Senate Commerce Committee.
Intel chief executive Pat Gelsinger will tell the committee “there is an urgent need for the federal government to encourage more private sector investment in the US to enable an elastic and innovative semiconductor ecosystem,” Reuters testified.
Micron Chief Executive Sanjay Mehrotra says in his written testimony that the $ 52 billion approval for chips “will focus on investment and labor development, R&D, innovation and expansion of manufacturing in the short term.”
