A conservatory for actress Amanda Bynes, who has been overseeing her personal and professional affairs for the past nine years, was officially closed by a judge on Tuesday.
“The conservatory is no longer necessary or required, and therefore the petition for dismissal has been granted,” Ventura County Judge Roger Lund said during a brief hearing lasting just over five minutes.
Bynes, 35, was not in the courtroom when the verdict was made.
Bynes’ mother, Lynne Bynes, was acting as her conservator and did not oppose the request made last month.
“Parents are happy to receive this good news,” Tamar Arminak, a lawyer for Bynes’ parents, told NBC last month. “Professionals say she’s ready to make her own life choices and decisions and she’s so proud of her.”
Bynes recently talked about her conservatory on Instagram, writing in part, “I want to thank you all very much for your love and support.”
The arrangement was first introduced in 2013, when Bynes experienced some personal difficulties. Her effort to close her conservatory comes after a judge closed Britney Spears’ 13-year conservatory in November.
“Congratulations to Miss Bynes, and good luck,” Judge Lund said at the end of the hearing.
