Julia Bradbury shows the journey of breast cancer in a new ITV movie

ITV Julia Bradbury will show her cancer journey in a new documentary.

The 51-year-old mother-of-three, who screened the BBC One Show country file until 2014 before moving to ITV, announced last September that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and needed urgent surgery. Six months later, the TV presenter is still in treatment.

The film tells the story of Julia’s personal story as one of seven women diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime in the UK. It will haunt her both before and after her mastectomy – seeing her family through the process of physical and psychological recovery, as well as meeting other families facing similar struggles.

Central to this story is Julia’s support network – her immediate family including her three children, her parents, who are both cancer survivors, and her indomitable big sister Gina, who are all affected by Julia’s diagnosis and intrinsic in her efforts to recover.

Julia said: “I wanted to make this documentary to help spread awareness about this pervasive disease that now affects one in seven women. There was so much I did not know about breast cancer before my diagnosis and I hope it helps d ‘The complexity of our individual cases, as well as some of the incredible support networks that are out there and the new science and knowledge that are evolving.

She added: “The impact of a cancer diagnosis goes far beyond the initial destructive novelty and the ripple effect on those close to you.”

Produced by TwoFour, the documentary will follow Julia from the early stages of her diagnosis in a single episode lasting 60 minutes on ITV. “Julia is a remarkably strong woman, and it was fascinating to see how this power has carried her through these incredibly hard last months.
