Lorde has released a new music video for the song ‘Secrets From a Girl (Who’s Seen it All)’ from her 2021 album. Solar energy.
The Kiwi pop star co-directed the video with regular collaborator Joel Kefali, who looks at her past versions of herself and continues the Summer Beach setting, which defines the visuals and themes in her third studio album.
“I said earlier that this song is in communication with another version of me, and trying to send the wisdom that I started to gather along the way,” Lorde explained in her latest newsletter to Fans was sent.

“As we plotted the video, Joel brought up some old movie / TV tropes about groupings of women. It inspired me to identify three different parts of myself, and to imagine what would happen if those parts were able to meet. .. and also in an early 2000s style girl group music video together ?! ”
Lorde – whose real name is Ella Yelich-O’Connor – said she enjoyed creating the video – which opens with her waking up under a duvet on the beach before the song comes to life.
The clip is the fifth video that has been released Solar energy after the album title track in the first single, along with ‘Mood Ring’, ‘Fallen Fruit’, and ‘Leader of a New Regime’.
“I like to conceptualize and do this, the kid in her purple lipstick and silver jewelry, big curls thrown to one side, jumping and jumping like I did when I was six years old; the lover, a baby woman in red with a little diamond eyes, awaken hunger and divine; and the gardener, I the smartest and dirtiest, dressed in my own clothes (give Fran for the sunflower-top gift, eagle-eye fans may have already seen this) and see the treat me with a good, amusing eye. The release of the new video comes as Lorde prepares for the April launch of her North American tour in support Solar energy.
Kiwi fans will have to wait until February-March 2023 to see the Lorde live on our shores after it unveiled its 2022 tour plans last November, due to the uncertainty surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic in Aotearoa.
