Netflix has released trailer for the new Jimmy Savile documentary

Netflix has released a trailer for its new documentary Jimmy Savile: A British horror story.

After the death of the television presenter in 2011, hundreds of survivors came forward with stories of abuse by Savile, who used his job at the BBC and in hospitals, prisons and charities to hide his pedophilia.

The trailer for the Netflix documentary shows Savile talking about archival material. “I’m a volunteer helper,” Savile is told. “Sometimes, when no one is watching, I help the reading.”

At another point, he shows the camera and says, “You really miss something. In fact, you miss everything.”

Another employee says: “It turns out that wherever he has been, there has been abuse.”

The documentary examines how the sexual predator, thought to be a national treasure, has made an entire country famous for decades.

“The Netflix Jimmy Savile documentary has a trailer – and it’s awful,” one person tweeted.

Another wrote: “Netflix Jimmy Savile documentary looks like the stuff of absolute nightmare.”

The documentary comes before BBC One Drama The bill, which stars Steve Coogan as Savile. News from The bill was met with outrage on social media, where many argued that Savile’s hundreds of victims were exploitative and disrespectful.

However, writer Neil McKay said some of Savile’s victims had been asked to join the film and meet Coogan while he was dressed as a pedophile on set.

“It will be clearly weird. But they wanted to do it, they were fully prepared, so it will be interesting, “he said.

Jimmy Savile: A British horror story comes to Netflix on April 6th.
