The government will stop companies from making staff redundant on the spot after P&O Ferries exploited “a loophole” in current legislation, the transport minister said.
Grant Shapps said there would be a “package of measures to ensure the situation is reversed” next week after the ferry company laid off 800 staff and then hired cheaper foreign workers.
