Dollar Tree recalls more than 1 million hot glue guns after fires

Discount retailer Dollar Tree is withdrawing more than 1 million square-foot Crafter glue guns sold nationwide because they can malfunction when connected, and can burn people and property.

People should disconnect and stop using the withdrawn product, which sold for about $ 1 and can be returned to any Dollar Tree or Family Dollar store for a full refund, Dollar Tree said Thursday in a notice posted by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The company has received seven reports of hot glue guns, including four fires and one with irritated skin.

Crafter’s square-tailed pistol remembered.

After connecting to an electrical outlet, plastic devices emit hot glue when the trigger is pressed. They are often used in crafting projects, as hot glue can bind faster and stronger than normal glue.

The withdrawn devices, which are imported from China, are black with a trigger and an orange tip, and have a silver UL Listed label on the handle with “XY-15302” printed on it.

Glue guns were sold in Dollar Tree stores from August 2020 to February 2022 and in Family Dollar stores from January 2022 to February 2022, as well as online at www.dollartree. as from August 2021 to February 2022.

Headquartered in Chesapeake, Virginia, Dollar Tree has more than 15,500 Dollar Tree and Family Dollar stores in the United States and Canada.

The withdrawal is not the first for the company this year. Dollar Tree withdrew several products after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration warned in February about potentially contaminated products from Family Dollar Stores in six states due to unhealthy rodent-related conditions.

This led to Family Dollar closing more than 400 stores after more than 1,000 rodents were found dead in one of its distribution centers. Dollar Tree said last month that it received a subpoena from the grand federal jury in the eastern district of Arkansas related to rat infestation in one of its stores.
