A multi-vehicle collision closed two lanes on the M5 motorway this evening (Wednesday, March 23), causing a queue of traffic to recede for more than five miles.
Avon Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that three vehicles were involved in the collision and as of 6.30pm, emergency services were in the process of “securing vehicles”. National Highways delivered an update just before 8:15 p.m., confirming that all lanes have since been reopened.
According to traffic monitoring site Inrix, lanes one and two (of three) south were blocked just in front of Weston-super-Mare. The accident is said to have occurred at junction 21 A371 (Weston-super-Mare).

“All emergency services are now on site. There will be a 60-minute delay on approach with over five miles of congestion, thus allowing extra travel time.”
