Best Buy removes 772,000 fryers and air ovens sold in the United States and Canada after more than 100 incidents in which the products caught fire, burned or melted, in one case hurting a child.
The company has heard 68 U.S. residents and 36 Canadians complain about overheating of fryers and ovens, Best Buy said Thursday in a notice released by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The reports include two injuries: one with a child’s leg and seven with minor property damage, the retailer revealed.
People should stop using removed air fryers and air fryer ovens and return them to Best Buy for a refund in the form of credit that will be used at Best Buy. Customers will receive a $ 50 in-store credit or the purchase receipt amount if higher. No receipt is required to get the $ 50 credit, the retailer said.
