Downing Street pulls plan to delay vote on partygate investigation

No 10 has withdrawn its amendment to delay a vote to order an inquiry into whether the Prime Minister misled Parliament about blocking parties.

MPs are scheduled to vote Thursday on a Labor plan for a Commons committee to examine its past comments on meetings in Whitehall.

Ministers had said a vote should wait until investigations by Met Police and Officer Sue Gray are complete.

But they have now withdrawn their amendment.

Ministers have also said Conservative MPs will be given a free vote on Labour’s motion.
