“I had a very settled life, my fiancee and I had a mortgage.”
Eddie Dennis had a good job teaching at a private school when he decided to give it up to pursue a career as a professional wrestler.
As a boy he grew up in Neath Port Talbot, but unable to find his way to the ring, the 198cm tall mathematician became a teacher instead.
But the reputation of the spotlight ran deep and after several years of classes during the week and wrestling at the weekend, the 36-year-old took a “risk”.
Now the proud Welshman returns home as a wrestling superstar, taking on September 3 at Principality Stadium in WWE’s biggest British stadium event in decades.
“It’s the most profound moment I could ever imagine,” he said.
