Ewerby: Dog tracks drink-driver from crash to front door

A police dog led officers straight to the door of a suspected drunk driver after sniffing him from half a kilometer away.

Officers were dispatched to a single vehicle accident at Park Lane in Ewerby, Lincolnshire on October 5.

With no trace of the driver, Orbit was put on the case – and tracked to an address on Anwick Road.

A police spokesman said a 45-year-old Sleaford woman had been arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.

The crime-fighting dog joined Lincolnshire Police in June 2019.

The troupe’s dogs are the main characters in a charity calendar.

Each month the calendar features a specialist police dog photographed in rural Lincolnshire.

Proceeds from sales go to the Thin Blue Paw Foundation, a national charity that supports retired service and police dogs.
