Leicestershire parents face school admissions delay

Parents were unable to see if their children were admitted to the secondary school of their choice after a problem with a council website.

Leicestershire County Council said it was “aware of an issue with our school admissions portal and is working to resolve it”.

Families could have checked the council’s website from 00:00 GMT on Wednesday to find out the allocations.

But several parents said on social media that the information wasn’t there.

Children across England are now also finding out about their secondary school place.

  • When will parents find out about places in secondary school?

Last year, a Queniborough mother called for changes to the Borough Council’s admissions system after her daughter missed her preferred primary school.
