Clarke is waiting for the post-finals

Adelaide AFLW Senior Coach Senior Coach Matthew Clarke says his side are still preparing to play their preliminary final next weekend until further notice.

The final series of the competition was knocked out during the week with the Collingwood v Brisbane knockout semi-finals as several players from Collingwood fell under AFL health and safety protocols.

The Fremantle vs. North Melbourne game will still continue on Saturday and the winner will take on the Crows in a preliminary final at home.

Even though the date of the preliminary final remains unclear, Clarke said his side, who had a goodbye this weekend, are training and preparing as usual.

“We are trying to stay in the same rhythm,” Clarke said in a statement to the media on Friday.

“We train Monday, Wednesday, Friday from the start of the pre-season until we finish and we will continue to do so.

“There is still a lot of things to work on, we can continue to get better and make sure the team is really healthy and as fit as we can.

“Once we have some security from the AFL, we can have a specific plan.

“But the reality is it probably won’t change what we’re doing right now, we’ll only change it if we have some exact dates.”

Adelaide deserved the pre-final farewell after claiming the Minor Premiership for a second year in a row.

Clarke said the goodbye games allowed players to rest their bodies and minds before attacking the final series.

“The week off will give everyone a chance to be physically ready,” Clarke said.

“I think from an injury perspective, hopefully the semi-finals will come, though, we should be pretty close to full strength unless something happens in the meantime.”
