Tottenham’s insider ‘John Wenham has revealed that the club are impressed with young defender Maksim Paskotsi and have no plans to part ways with him this summer despite recent absences.
The 19-year-old returned to the Spurs U23 fold last weekend and beat a young side to a 7-1 win over Liverpool.
But it was Estonia International’s first appearance for the development squad since late October, prompting Wenham to put the effects of Covid’s impact on his recovery.
Wenham told Football Insider: “Paskotsi is back on the sidelines, which was great to see.
“He has Covid and it took him a long time to recover and come back to what we heard happened with other players.”
The dismissal has also led to much speculation about Paskotsi’s future at the club, although Wenham has assured fans that the Spurs’ potential is highly valued.
He added: “Many people have asked me where he is on social media and some people have panicked as to why he was fired.
“I would remind all concerned fans that Paskotsi has a contract until 2023, so any departure this summer would be on our terms anyway.
“From what I said, Tottenham were really impressed with Maxim and so he was right back with the bracelet when he was available.”
Paskotsi made five appearances in Premier League 2 this season and played 79 minutes on his return to the side of Wayne Burnett (transfer market).

It’s good to hear some clarity as to why Paskotsi is missing on the reserve side and it’s also positive that he made a comeback, despite the hard result.
He will have plenty of room to grow as a defender at his age, so it’s no surprise that the Spurs are afraid to keep him.
