The syndicate owned by Flooring Porter, winner of the grand race at St Patrick’s Day at the Cheltenham Festival, charmed everyone with her Irish exuberance at her horse’s success. Well, not quite all.
ITV Racing coverage host Francesca Cumani was forced to apologize to viewers when one of the horse owners slipped an agricultural sentence when talking to Wettenring reporter Brian Gleeson. The owner and his syndicate of black-and-white scars were asked how his countrymen could react to the flooring porter, the Stayers won hurdles.
He said, “No cow is painted …” before Mr Gleeson cut off with “sorry for the language”. When the cameras cut Ms. Cumani back in the parade ring, she said, “We really regret the bad language you heard in the betting ring behind Brian – that’s not something we like to hear.

“We try to bring you all the atmosphere around the course, but unfortunately these things happen sometimes. Sorry about that.”
Of course, Flooring Porter ripped home at 4-1 to land its owners a check for more than £ 182,000.
Thursday saw the return of sun and blue skies to the race course and it looks as if those lucky enough to take part in Gold Cup Day to enjoy the same, with shining sun and blue skies playing for the last and biggest day of Welcome races.
