Formerly Gogglebox Star Scarlett Moffatt proves one of the highlights of Comic Relief 2022 when she sang a medley of arias from the opera Carmen as part of a star quintet.
Scarlett, along with former EastEnders Stars Nina Wadia and Tamsin Outhwaite, Helen George and comedian Rosie Jones, performed the aria live in front of 2,000 people at the London Coliseum – and millions more watched on television – and, during Call the housewife Star Helen clearly had a professional singing voice, it was Geordie TV personality Scarlett who stole the show.
As one viewer wrote on Twitter, “Wow! Scarlett Moffatt has a sweet voice. Who knew?”

The five women had only 24 hours to prepare for it Comic Relief Challenge and throughout the show, clips of their preparation were shown.
Scarlett said before performing: “I’m not a professional singer, I’ve never had a singing class, no matter what opera.
“People train opera for like years, sometimes decades and we don’t even get 24 hours, it’s crazy. I do not regret that I signed up, I think it will be amazing.

And it was amazing. After a five-minute performance, the quintet received enthusiastic applause from the beloved audience and host Sara Cox embraced a clearly defeated Scarlett.
She said, through tears: “Everyone is born knowing Comic Relief and in this way to be a part of it … “
Rosie added: “I’m glad I did it because it was so far from my comfort zone and I want to show everyone out there that no matter what skill they have, they can do it.”
One of the team – which prepared the women for the Opera Challenge – mezzo-soprano Claire Barnett-Jones, tweeted: “In tears here at home, what a performance in you destroys all!”

The arias were without a doubt the highlight and culmination of Comic Relief 2022 and helped Red Nose Day appeal to reach a total of £ 42,790,147 starting at midnight on Friday. The total collected will support vital work in the UK and around the world this year to tackle homelessness, domestic abuse, poverty and mental health issues.
The BBC One Entertainment Extravaganza was previously slightly relaxed by the retreat of hosts Zoe Ball and Joel Dommett, as well as Kylie Minogue, who was announced for in a sketch featuring the cast of Ghosts after testing positive for Covid.
