As the Oscars try to revitalize their television show and stop the show from downgrading ratings, producer Will Packer has made the controversial decision to cut eight awards from the live program. Instead, the under-the-line categories (Documentary Short, Film Meditation, Makeup and Hairstyling, Original Score, Production Design, Animated Short, Live-Action Short, and Sound) will be awarded before the show begins, with the winners “Acceptance Speeches in the Broadcast changed to save time. The movement immediately sparked outrage in Hollywood circles, with many of the industry’s most prominent figures calling for the Oscars to restore the old format and honor the craftsmen who make films possible, often without getting much credit.

But while most of Hollywood had strong words about the decision, one Oscar nominee matched her with actions. Jessica Chastain, who was nominated for her role in “The Eyes of Tammy Faye” for Best Actress, has announced that she’s willing to miss the red carpet to be with her film makeup team when her Category is announced.

“I will be absolutely present when the make-up category is mentioned, and if that means I do not press on the red carpet or ABC or whatever it is, then so be it,” Chastain said in an interview on Next Best Picture Podcast.

Chastain received a nomination for Best Actress for her performance as television evangelist Tammy Faye (despite the film itself receiving little attention) in part because of the remarkable physical transformation she underwent. The star is virtually unrecognizable among layers of makeup and prosthetics for much of the film, portraying Faye at various ages over the course of 30 years. She clearly recognizes the role that her makeup team played in earning her the much acclaim she received for the film.

“The most important thing for me is to honor the incredible craftsmen who work in our industry,” she said. “So much attention is paid to the actors. We’re like the face, in some ways, because you go to a movie and you see us. A lot of people do not understand how an actor is a performer. Look at this incredible make-up. up Team. ‘Tammy Faye’ goes through three decades.

The 94th Academy Awards are set to take place on Sunday, March 27th.
