Eddie Hall and Hafthor Bjornsson will face each other tonight in what is being called the “toughest boxing match in history”.
The two worlds Strongest Man winners are facing Dubai and both fighters have agreed to donate the prize money to charity. There is also not only pride on the line, with another bet being made between Hall and Bjornsson ahead of today’s clash in the ring.
Both men cut their weight drastically ahead of the Grudge match in the Middle East, with Hall admitting he thinks Thor has lost too much weight. The fight was originally supposed to take place last September, but was delayed due to Hall being pulled out with an injured biceps.
Bjornsson lost a total of 55 kg in front of the hall, prepared by fighting in a number of exhibition boxes. Meanwhile, Hall trained with world-class boxers such as Lawrence Okolie before Saturday’s fight, after recovering from his previous injury.

The weight was already before the fight with Hall at 142.2 kg and Bjornsson a little heavier at 152 kg.
The fighters agreed that the prize money for this fight was a donation to charity. Both Hall and Thor agreed to donate $ 200,000 to a charity of the winner’s choice.
There is also another bet, with the fighters agreeing that the loser must get the name of the opponent tattooed on their body. For clarity, this is what the possibilities are, depending on the eventual loser:
- When Eddie Hall Loses – “World’s Strongest Man: Hafthor Julius Björnsson”
- When Hafthor Björnsson loses – “Strongest man in the world: Eddie Hall”.
Fighters will wear 12oz gloves, instead of the usual 10oz heavyweight gloves, with combat lasting six, two minute rounds when it comes to distance.
Eddie ‘The Beast’ Hall vs. Hafthor ‘Thor’ Bjornsson will kick off tonight, Saturday, March 19th, at 9pm GMT at Dubai Duty Free Stadium. Hall vs Thor will be available to watch for free with SEGI.TV holding the rights to the action.
