Two big things
This went as expected
This was, shall we say, not the most beautiful or exciting game for the Flyers. It was a natural move – Atkinson was partly bought up for his ability to help unofficially on the lead front, he kept an eye on Columbus, and now it officially only made sense here. And what they got from his last night is also exactly what you want to see from the team leaders – this season has been tough and they just seem to be getting louder again, but Atkinson set a great example, jumping in and out to work draws his teammates into the fight with him. It was not enough to draw the whole team to a victory, but it was a welcome sight.
Frost back to the middle
To begin with, it was nice to see Morgan Frost do well for this after taking a puck in the face after a strange clearing attempt by Justin Braun at the end of Thursday’s game. This season is so cursed and he has taken a relatively serious injury from it would have been par for the course. But the bullet killed there, we think.
In other news, Frost is back in the middle to play with Giroux away, and even though he looked his best while playing on the wing recently, the Flyers did not really have a choice as he returned to the middle. move. Man, this was weird
We could have guessed that that would be the case, but somehow it got worse, and it was so weird to see the Flyers without Claude Giroux in this one. For how long he was on the team, for how durable he was and how few players he missed during that time, as well as just for how much he drove the offensive during that time.
