Warriors’ curry awaits return from the start of the playoffs

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – Stephen Curry said he is confident he can recover from a dead left foot when the Golden State Warriors begin the playoffs.

The two-time league MVP wore a white boot on Sunday as he addressed reporters for the first time since Golden State’s game Wednesday night following a collision with Boston’s Marcus Smart.

With 12 games left in the regular season, Curry was asked if he felt he was on the floor for the Warriors’ first playoff game.

“Yeah, we have enough time for that … but I’m an optimist,” he said ahead of Golden State’s game against San Antonio.

Curry and Smart had gone for a loose ball as Smart pushed off and Curry’s legs fell off. The game brought Warriors coach Steve Kerr to Smart from the sidelines as Curry went into the closet.

“He tried not to hurt me,” Curry said. “There’s a certain way he plays. I do not think many other people did the game he did, but I do not think it was malicious or dirty.

Curry had gone heavy in the boot on Sunday. He said he does what he can in the weight room to stay in shape. By next week, he hopes to be back in court to do some basketball activities, but added that a cautious approach is needed.

“From what I have said, just in terms of banding around the injury to the bones that are down there, you do not want to do the initial stage of healing quickly because that is when you will get the greatest progress,” Curry said. . “Then, when you put the shoe back on and come back to court and get reps, you have nothing to do with crazy sore throats or anything.”

The Warriors are third in the Western Conference.

Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry speaks to the media about his injury before an NBA basketball game against the San Antonio Spurs in San Francisco, Sunday, March 20, 2022.
