Speaking at the Gabba Stadium in Brisbane ahead of the announcement of the Southeast Queensland $ 1.8 billion city deal, Mr Morrison thanked Prime Minister Annastacia Palaszczuk and Mayor Adrian Schrinner for their partnership in concluding the deal, which has been in negotiations for years. war.

The SEQ City Deal is funded by $ 667 million from the Commonwealth, $ 618 million from the Queensland Government and $ 501 million from the Council of Mayors (SEQ) representing the Regional Council.

The deal, which includes $ 450 million to Brisbane Metro Woolloongabba Station and $ 190.2 million to Kangaroo Point Green Bridge, was officially signed on Monday.

Earlier in an interview on 4BC, Mr Morrison said he and Mrs Palaszczuk “just keep going with the things we need to do”.

But when asked why the deal was completed by the end of the federal election in May, and if there had been tense negotiations between the three levels of government, Mr Morrison said it was a matter of timing.

“When you put together a partnership, there are a lot of opinions that you have to put around the table and you have to prioritize them,” he said.

“Getting the deal right is always important.
