Texans flee for cover as Tornado and Round Rock hit

A storm system that passed through Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama overnight killed one person and injured an unknown number.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott called the destruction “devastating,” saying it was a “miracle” that more people were not killed immediately.

Several videos and images captured Monday night showed powerful tornadoes causing massive damage to RVs, homes and schools, with a video showing a truck driver who almost fled after being thrown into the air.

Another video also showed a tornado coming to a Walmart in Round Rock, not far from Austin, forcing customers to flee the upcoming Twister.

At least one person was injured when they were dragged across the parking lot, according to footage.

About 22 million people were at risk of getting in the way of severe storms on Monday over Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana, the forecast said, as the storm system moves northwest.

Active tornado watching in parts of Texas and Louisiana

A tornado clock is in effect for parts of southeast Texas and Louisiana until 2 p.m. local time on Tuesday, the National Weather Service said.

The National Weather Service in Memphis issued a warning for flooding Tuesday night for western Tennessee and eastern Arkansas and northern Mississippi.

The Austin Metro region was hit by a flood warning on Tuesday morning after tornadoes and strong winds overnight.
