A police cordon has been erected in Stevenage following the collapse of an abandoned building. Swingate House, which is currently being demolished, is in the city center.
Stevenage Council urges members of the public to avoid the area, with Herts Police and Herts Fire and Rescue Service crews on site. A statement from the fire department said: “At 10am, @HertsFRSControl received a call saying that Swingate House, Swingate, Stevenage had collapsed.
“Please avoid the area where it is possible. A lot of resources are involved and your safety is our priority.”

Hertz Police added: “We are currently assisting at the scene of a building collapse in the Swingate area of #Stevenage. A cordon has been used as a precautionary measure and people are urged to avoid the area at this time.”
