John Wayne Parr did not take Eduard Folayang lightly completed

JOHN Wayne Parr does not take former One Lightweight Champion Eduard Folayang lightly.

The two veterans meet in a three-round Muay Thai match during the grand finale of One X on Saturday at Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Folayang fought in a wushu contest in a pure striking match more than a decade ago. Despite his relative ignorance of his enemy, the Australian does not expect his retirement battle to be easy.

“This is a world champion versus Muay Thai world champion, so it’s not getting any bigger,” said Parr, who is looking to win his 100th career.

“I am very excited to have the opportunity to share the circle with Eduard Folayang. It inspires me to finish my career on a high against a legitimate champion. It motivates me to start the morning and train hard.

“I have to get my timing right, so I’m not going to be stupid. Not to be too careful, but I have to be very careful where I am all the time – range, distance,” Parr shared.

“If I can keep it to a pure Muay Thai game, I’ll be hard to beat,” Parr said.

“So, he comes into my world instead of me entering his. I will choose my shot and get the victory.
