Fury faces himself after Whyte now shows up at press conference
Tyson Fury’s training partner and former rugby star Sonny Bill Williams was beaten by his opponent during their face-off.
Williams will fight Barry Hall tonight and the former Australian regular footballer made sure he landed the first blow before the couple even got into the ring. As he faced after her departure, Hall pushed himself under Williams and pushed him back with his head.
Spectators quickly separated from rivals to prevent the temperature from boiling over. The couple then confronted each other for a second time and gently shook hands before Williams pushed Hall away from him.
Williams trained with WBC heavyweight champion Fury in Morecambe along with New Zealand compatriot Joseph Parker before his fight. But Hall played off the effect Fury and Parker had on Williams when he stepped into the ring.
“At the press conference yesterday, there was an illustrated line-up [alongside Williams]”, he said.” All the names written down, I had two people with me. There are a lot of people who do not want me to win this fight, I understand that. A lot of money is lost when he loses, I understand that too. So I have to win by knockout and why I will.
Fury sent a message to his training partner before his fight, saying, “Wish Sonny all the best, do business. Come on, Sonny, get it done guys! Good luck guys, see you when you get back.”
Williams has been unbeaten in eight professional fights and his coach Andy Lee believes the 36-year-old could even fight for a heavyweight world title in the future. His fight against Waikato Falefehi last year marked Williams’ first match in seven years.
After starting his career in the Rugby League, Williams moved to the Rugby Union in 2010. He is widely regarded as one of the best rugby players of all time, and won the World Cup in 2011 and 2015 before joining last year. withdrew from the sport.

His opponent Hall is no stranger to controversy as the 45-year-old was known for his aggression on the pitch during his football career, which earned him the nickname “Wild Man”. Hall has only fought in the ring once before, drawing with Paul Gallen in 2019.
A fight between Williams and Gallen was highly sought after, something Williams is aware of. He plans to dedicate the next two years to boxing, but wants to focus on his fight with Hall before exploring a fight with Gallen.
“The plan is to do this for 24 months and see where it takes me,” Williams told Nine News Gallen. “I know what your next question will be – is Paul Gallen a part of it? And definitely. We have to see how Wednesday night goes, and after a big win we’ll be working on the next one.”
